Cavity Wall Insulation:

A cavity wall is made up of two parallel walls with a gap in between; usually made of bricks.  In modern homes, insulation is inserted into the cavity, but for homes built between 1924 and 1982 this was not required.

Cavity wall insulation is installed by injecting insulation material into the cavity using a pump from the outside. They will drill holes into the outside wall, then pump the insulation inside before sealing the holes with cement.
